When you create a workflow, you have to specify what folder Automata will monitor, what editing functions to perform automatically on the files that are added to that folder, and where to save the resulting edited images. After that, you can relax and let Automata do all the work. It will automatically edit images based on your specifications.

You can install the SoftColor-developed Automata application on a PC powered by a 32 or 64-bit edition of Windows XP or newer. To install the Automata application, you must download an executable, run it, then go through the instructions displayed by a setup wizard on your screen.

On its dark themed interface, Automata displays a list of all the workflows you create. When you use the application for the first time, there are no workflows to display, so it invites you to create one. You can do so by clicking the New Workflow button in the upper right hand side.

Creating a workflow is not a difficult task. You have to pick the input and output folder, choose what happens with the original files, pick the output format, and select the editing functions you want the application to apply. Your options are: automatic color correction, exposure & contrast, color equalizer, color management, resize, resolution, crop, rotate, flip & mirror, automatic sharpening, unsharp masking, denoise, XMP-metadata, pre process files, post process files, black & white, and watermark.

Once a workflow is created, Automata will run in the background and monitor the input folder. If images are added to that folder, the selected editing tasks will be applied to the images and they will be saved in the format and output folder of your choice.

You have 10 days at your disposal to use Automata for free for evaluation purposes.

Lay back and let SoftColor’s Automata batch edit images automatically. Tell it where to look and what to do and it will do it automatically.

Pros

Automata works with 32 and 63-bit Windows editions. You will quickly get the hang of the interface and you will be able to easily and quickly create workflows. There are numerous editing functions which you can select. Automata runs in the background, monitoring the specified folders.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 10 days.
